3. I’ve changed my mind – what’s your returns policy?
We have a comprehensive returns policy which allows you to return any of our products within 28 days of purchase. We are happy to process all returns providing the Trabasack product is returned to us undamaged or soiled and therefore saleable. All of our products carry a 12 month manufacturer’s guarantee against defects. Our full return policy is here.
4. Who makes the Trabasack product range?
The Trabasack product range were created and designed in Gt. Britain. You can read the story of their development here. The original prototypes were created on a sewing machine at home but are now developed using the latest technology at De Montford University, Leicester UK and our design studio in China. Sometimes we utilise the UK based manufacturer Trim Technology or our agent Buckingham Healthcare who have premises in China. We are committed to utilising only ethical and sustainable manufacturers who commit to their employees earning above average wages and are fervently against the use of child labour. Our two manufacturers have the same commitment to high quality and craftsmanship as well as environmental responsibility as our core team.
We have also sourced from the best UK companies and manufacturers to provide products for our community. Through our work we have developed contacts with businesses and entrepreneurs in the UK healthcare community. We are always looking for new ideas and innovations that improve people’s lives. Many people starting a business with a new product find it hard to reach customers. If you are interested in selling on our platform, please get in touch.

7. How do I make a bulk order?

8. I can’t decide which of your products to order – can you help?
We can’t make the decision for you but we can highlight the benefits of each of our products.
The Trabasack Curve is our original product and is a great option for frequent travellers, wheelchair users as its unique curved shape hugs the body’s contours. If the ability to attach things with Velcro tape is something that you might find useful then you may prefer
The Trabasack Curve Connect If the ability to attach things with Velcro tape is something that you might find useful then you may prefer a Curve Connect. Exactly the same size as the Curve but with a soft fabric surface that will stick to the rough Velcro tape. A range of coloured trims can be chosen currently we have pink, red, blue and orange.
The Trabasack Mini is a super slim lap tray and bag that is perfect as a briefcase or to carry a small netbook or tablet computer. It can be worn as a shoulder bag or rucksack as well as carried as a briefcase and has a faux-leather surface on one side perfect for use as a work tray.
The Trabasack Mini Connect is the same as the Mini in every way except the tray surface, the soft fabric can be used for crafts or as a pleasant surface for tablets, but you can also attach things to it using rough Velcro tape (or our own value Trabasack Tape)
The Trabasack Max is our largest model. It has all the benefits of our other models with a much larger capacity making it ideal for travel and is also features the a deluxe option a Harris Tweed trim and a deep burgundy satin lining.
9. Where did you get the idea for the Trabasack?
Our product range was created as the answer to a problem we had in our very own family. Our designer Clare developed the first Trabasack as a wheelchair lap tray for her son Joe who lives with Dravet’s syndrome, which causes severe epilepsy and learning disabilities. The original tray was so successful for the family that the product was refined and taken to market, proudly winning style awards and gaining fans around the globe.
You can read about the Joe and the trabasack here or listen to our Radio 2 interview with Liza Tarbuck on the Innovation slot:
10. Can I wash my Trabasack?
Yes, all Trabasacks can be machine-washed. Use a washbag to prevent straps being caught in the drum. If you wish you can remove the inner beanbag cushion for speedier drying. Wash at 30 degrees and do not spin or tumble dry. Hang it out and it will soon dry. One of our customers washed a trabasack curve connect every week for 2 years and it was still in a functional condition!
11. Usage Instructions
Below is a list of some of the most common questions we recieve about how to use the Trabasack, and further explanations of the functionality of the lap desk bag. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us anytime!
Attaching the Trabasack to a Wheelchair Using the Side Straps
Attaching the straps to your wheelchair is simple – Take one of the short straps (side straps) and attach the strap to the D-ring present on the soft-side of the bag using the swivel clip. The next step is to attach the side strap to the post of your wheelchair or any other area on the chair that is close to your lap. Wrap the length of the side strap around the post of your chair, and then thread the strap back-through the D-ring to secure and shorten the length of the strap.
The strap with swivel clip can now be left in-place upon your wheelchair for when you desire to attach the Trabasack to the chair for future use.
Side straps are included as standard with the Curve and Curve Connect, and can be purchased separately for the Mini and Max.
For a more detailed explanation please have a look at the following video:
12. Is the Trabasack Suitable for Those with Leg Amputations?
Being able to use the Trabasack if you are an amputee will depend upon the specific shape of your lap. The Trabasack can rest easily on one leg and be levelled-out using the bean bag insert, placing it on one side only. This works particularly well with the Trabasack Max, which comes with two beanbags. We also suggest perhaps folding a small towel and placing this inside the internal compartment to even-out the tray surface.
The Trabasack can also sit upon the armrests of a wheelchair or a pommel, further helping to level-out the tray. Trabasack can be used easily in bed, where cushions and bedding can provide the extra support needed to keep it level.
13. Is the Trabasack range Suitable for Those with Arthritis and Inflammatory Joint Conditions?
Our range of lap tray bags can offer much-needed support for those with inflammatory joint conditions, such as Arthritis. The raised edge of the bag tray surface can be used to support and rest the wrist upon whilst in use, and the addition of a Media Mount in combination with the Connect velcro-receptive surface, ensures that items placed upon the tray remain steady and secure without the need for the user to hold items in place.
14. What are the Exact Sizes of the Trabasack Range of Lap Desk Bags?
There are three basic Trabasack styles, each one being different in size:
1. Trabasack Mini and Mini Connect
33 x 25 x 7.5 cm – 700g in weight
2. Trabasack Curve and Curve Connect
39 x 37 x 7.5 cm – 900g in weight
3. Trabasack Max
43 x 33 x 12.5 cm (exterior)
40 x 29 x 7.5 cm (interior, not including expanded section) – 1.7kg in weight
As for the internal capacity of our bags – we have purposefully designed the Trabasack so that the internal beanbag is removable – therefore if you feel you do not need it, it can be taken-out to provide more room inside the bag compartment.
The Mini and the Curve are approximately handbag-sized in terms of internal capacity, and can carry personal effects such as keys, wallet/purse, a book or small laptop. The carrying capacity of the Trabasack Mini and Curve are a bonus on top of the functionality of the tray.
If you are looking for a more spacious internal capacity, the Max offers an expandable base and the bag and tray itself are larger in surface area. The Max can carry, for approximation and example, a tablet computer or laptop, books, paperwork, personal effects (such as keys, wallet, medication, stationery) and perhaps a shirt, trousers and your lunch.
15. Can I order a Trabasack as a gift?
This should be no problem at all. You can follow the regular payment process but simply add in the recipient’s address rather than yours in the delivery section. This will ensure your friend receives their Trabasack and we hopefully bring another Trabasaxon into our ranks.
16. Your website isn’t working for me, how can I order a product?
We’re sorry that you’re experiencing technical difficulties. If you contact us directly we can discuss your order and get it placed and dispatched for you with ease.
If you have any further questions that we haven’t answered above don’t hesitate to get in touch via sales@trabasack.com or duncan@trabasack.co.uk – We’d love to hear from you and are sure we can give you the answers you need. We love social media and would like to hear from you on twitter or facebook.
17. What can I expect from your packaging, is it recyclable?
All our packaging is made from recycled materials when new. We try to reuse existing packaging from our suppliers and other sources whenever possible, so some of your packaging will be repurposed boxes, bubble wrap and paper to try to achieve the best environmentally protective, secure and safe packaging option we have available.
